I'm about to install my very first Shilen 4 groove ratchet barrel to my 2013.
I'm also about to do a ammo batch test in Germany right after the barrel is installed.
(The test is performed with the action + stock in a vise.)
Can I 'trust' the groups a brand new barrel produces?
Or does it need some rounds (say a 1000 or so) thru the bore to show it's real, future characteristics?
I've heard som different theories about this, just want to be sure before buying expensive ammo
Thank you
Carlzone

Feb 24, 2016 Custom Rifle Barrel Break-In Procedure February 24, 2016 / Nosler Info. Rifle Barrel Break-In. A procedure frequently overlooked by new rifle owners is completing a thorough barrel break-in. When new barrels are made, steel is unevenly stressed and microscopic burs and rough-spots are created. Hand-lapping new barrels certainly help with those.
